The Roman Road
Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"
Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"
Romans 5:8: "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners"
Romans 10:9–10: "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved"
Romans 10:13 “For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”
In this foundational study of salvation, the core of all Christianity, we come to the Roman Road to salvation.
In just a brief few chapters Paul, the apostle explains systematically what Christ did for us in His death, burial, and resurrection.
He first establishes that we were all born into a sinful state, which is illustrated in Genesis the fall of mankind.
We all have sinned, we all have fallen short of the glory of God— other words, the glory God intended us to be and to enjoy the original plan. We are unable to achieve this on our own strength.
The Wages Of Sin Is Death:
The consequence of sin is eternal separation from the Author of Life. That’s what "bible death" refers to "the eternal death" versus the Eternal Life that we have in Christ Jesus. Which is a free gift achieved by Christ’s work in His virgin birth, in His sinless life and His illustration of a human being, walking by faith in the power of the Holy Spirit. Then finally, taking on the Messianic Mantle and paying for the sins of the world.
While We Were Still Sinners:
All this was done even before we repented and reconcile to God. While we were yet still sinners, Christ died for us. The power of the love that surpasses all understanding was given to us unconditionally even if we reject Him, Jesus still gave Himself for us. There is no excuse for any of us to go to hell. Our Hell debt has been paid in full.
The Simple Act Of Believing And Confessing:
With the faith of a child, we accept the good news of His death, burial and resurrection for our redemption. We received this revelation by the word of God —it is only by a personal revelation that we confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior that ratifies the promise of our salvation.
Everyone Who Calls:
The concept that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, is a dispensational truth. Before the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, only those who were born into the lineage of father Abraham was blessed.
However, through Abraham, believing God at his word, God fulfilled, the promise of salvation spoken in Genesis and peppered throughout the Old Testament that all people groups would be saved through Eve’s Seed. See Genesis 3:15.
Therefore, salvation is just that simple. Believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of the Living God and confess with your mouth that He is your Lord, and you shall be saved.
